Meet Our Family Outreach Liaison

Hello, my name is Maria Castillo. I am the family outreach liaison at Witch Hazel Elementary. My role as a family outreach liaison is so valuable in creating a strong, supportive connection between families and the school. Being a cultural broker helps bridge the gap by fostering communication, understanding, and trust between the school and families. One way I help strengthen the school community and help students thrive is by supporting family engagement events in our school and connecting families with resources they might need. To help everyone feel connected and included, the PTA and PAC merged to create The Wolf Family group. We meet once a month, in our library, to plan events, activities, workshops, go over teacher needs, etc. All of our meetings are bilingual, we offer a light dinner and childcare is provided.
