Budget, Advocacy and Bargaining

As we shared in the October 14 Hot News, HSD is facing a shortfall of $9.5 million in the 2024-25 school year. We are implementing a number of actions to reduce expenditures accordingly, with a goal of avoiding direct impact to students. Current unknowns are how the outcome of bargaining with both of our employee unions will affect expenditures. We encourage advocacy in the 2025 Legislative Session for stable and adequate funding of K-12 education. Stay tuned to the Budget Matters page of our website for updates and resources.
